Brollo Baldo Studio has been awarded second prize in the international House of the Future competition, marking a significant acknowledgement of its approach to contemporary housing. The studio was present at the official ceremony held in Dubai, where the award was presented by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, in an institutional event bringing together winners, organizers, and jury members.
The competition was adjudicated by an international jury of leading figures, including Micael Calatrava and Andrew Mason of Calatrava Grace and Calatrava International, Charles Walker of Zaha Hadid Architects, Abdul Redha Abu Al Hassan of the Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), Martin Voelkle of BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group, Christina Seilern of Studio Seilern Architects, Ahmed Bukhash of Archidentity, Stefan de Koning of MVRDV, and Will Plowman, director of the Dubai office of Foster + Partners.
Organized by Buildner in collaboration with governmental entities and internationally renowned practices, the competition called for the design of an affordable, adaptable, and forward-looking single-family house tailored to the Emirati context. The awarded proposals are expected to contribute to the national housing registry of the United Arab Emirates.
