We have been awarded first prize at the Florence Hills international competition, for the restoration of a 17th-century Tuscan estate in the Chianti region

We are proud to announce our first prize at the Florence Hills international competition, organized by Terraviva Competitions in collaboration with Florence Hills, a real estate developer committed to the revival of historic rural properties in Tuscany. Our project, titled Tuscan Terraces, was selected from an international field of proposals and recognized for its precision, spatial quality, and the careful integration of architecture and landscape.

The competition was adjudicated by an international jury of leading practitioners, including Giancarlo Mazzanti of El Equipo Mazzanti, Nathalie Rozencwajg of NAME Architecture, Mario Gentile of Shiftspace, Agnese Mazzei of Agnese Mazzei Architetti, Anastasia Kucherova of Stefano Boeri Architetti, Gregory Kahn Melitonov of Taller KEN, Charles Tashima of Studio Tashima, and Martina Mitrović of Vincenzo De Cotiis.

The competition invited architects and designers to reimagine the abandoned rural complex of Podere Santa Margherita, transforming it into a contemporary luxury residence while preserving its architectural and historical character. The challenge required a careful balance between restoration and innovation, and an attentive dialogue with the Tuscan landscape.

Our proposal offers a contemporary interpretation of the Casa Leopoldina typology, recovering the essence of the original architecture and adapting it to modern ways of living. The outdoor spaces are organized through a series of terraces that articulate the natural topography and orient the project toward the surrounding vineyard, while the interior design establishes a dialogue between history, contemporary aesthetics, and the spirit of Tuscany through a natural, neutral material palette rooted in the warmth of local tradition.
